Our adoption journey began in the spring of 2008. When we first realized this was God's plan, we started talking to other families at our church who adopted from Ethiopia. It was very clear that Arise for Children was the agency for us. Everyone at Arise has been extremely helpful with all phases of our adoption process. Adoption can be an emotional rollercoaster, and with every emotion comes questions. Susan and her staff were available to answer questions, basically any time day or night...phone or email. Being adoptive parents themselves.....they truly have been through the same things that we were going through. They are an advocate for all aspects of adoption and were a conduit for all international communication. We highly recommend Arise for Children for any families considering adoption. On January 2009 we started our adoption journey. We looked at many agencies, but really felt lead to Arise for Children. We loved it because it was local and many adoptive families live in our area. Mostly we were impressed with their Christian values. Our entire process and our sweet son were covered in prayer. We are so thankful for Susan and all the staff at Arise. Out of all the millions of orphans in the world God knew Dawit would fit perfectly into our family and He used Arise to help bring him home.

We just brought home our beautiful 14-month-old daughter two weeks ago. What an experience! The whole way through, God taught us true dependence on Him, and the Arise For Children staff walked with us through every part of it. The Manyard Family
We are the Maynard family. Mom and dad are Bethany and Paul, the children are Carson (9), Madelyn (6), Annastyn (4), Camden Yishake (4) and Lincoln Yohannis (2)! We met with Arise and started the process of adopting a little boy from Ethiopia in April 2008. Soon thereafter it was laid upon our hearts to expand to a sibling set of 2. We received our referral in September of a set of brothers ages about 1 1/2 and 2 1/2! We passed court in March and picked up our precious boys in May. The boys are very smart, loving, funny, and so much more! They fit into our family like missing puzzle pieces that we did not realize we were missing! We are ever so grateful to Susan and the entire team here in the US and in country. Our precious boys have blessed us more than we can ever bless them!

Adoption was something we always discussed, but the immediate financial burden always seemed too big for us. Well, it was too big for us, but it wasn't too big for our God to provide. When we realized that God's plan for caring for orphans is through the church, we had to respond to the over five million orphans in Ethiopia alone. God used the staff at Arise for Children to bring home two precious boys to our family. Our adoption experience was full difficulties and hurdles, but Arise handled each situation with love and with much prayer. By the end, we felt like they were a part of our family. God taught us so much through our adoption journey, and God used Arise to minister to our family in a mighty way. We are forever grateful.
It has always been a dream of Kara’s to adopt a baby since she was a small child. Growing up, she wasn’t like other girls who dreamed of giving birth to a baby but rather she dreamed of what it would be like to give a baby in need a home. We have talked about adoption being a part of our family since we were dating. Adopting our daughter has been a dream come true for all of us!
Every day we thank God for the amazing support and resources of Arise for Children. It is because Susan and the rest of the wonderful staff who have faithfully answer the call to provide for orphans that our beautiful baby is in our arms. It is evident that adoption is a passion for each of the staff at Arise for Children and that they genuinely love each of the children in the orphanages and truly care about their quality of life. Susan and her staff spend countless hours ensuring that everyone’s need and desires are meet and most importantly that they are walking the path that God has called them in. They go far beyond the limits of their job description to bring hope to all of the beautiful children.
